EAR TRAINING

Keep Praying. Keep Playing.

THE MUSICAL EAR

THE “WHY”

This is one of the hardest facets of being a musician. But once mastered, it will make you one of the easier ones to play with.

INTRO & THE WHY

INTERVALS

We discuss the sound, tone, and visualization of intervals, such as the octave, major thirds, and perfect fifths. Hearing it (but also seeing it) will train you to pick it out in guitar parts in your preparation for Sundays.

CHORD PROGRESSIONS

Watch the video to help you not only hear the chords, but see how they relate to one another on the fretboard, plus a glimpse into how we use this to know a song without necessarily playing it.

THE 3m CHORD or 1/3 CHORD

TEST YOURSELF

Now it’s time to challenge yourself! Take your time. Use your ears and picture the movements of each interval or chord progression like discussed using the key of G or C shapes. Then take a guess and write it down! Then check to see if you got it right. If not, just re-listen and hear those progressions again and picture the movement after then knowing the answer.
